Horse Camp

Growing up, I was an avid reader. I’d wake up early on the weekends and curl up with a good book instead of turning on the cartoons. My favorite books were those about horses. I would devour any and every book I could find about horses. My room was full of model horses, horse drawings, stuffed horses, and just about everything else with a horse on it. Once I was finally allowed to take riding lessons, I truly discovered my passion and wanted to spend every waking hour at the barn. I still do!

My life-long love for horses has been the inspiration behind my latest project. I started brainstorming over the summer and the project just kept growing. I was originally planning to create a few equestrian-themed worksheets for kids, but I had so many ideas that I decided to make a week-long curriculum all about horses (55 pages). So many kids are home this season due to Covid and my hope was to design something fun that would help keep them occupied indoors, but still give them a taste of the horse camp experience.

After many months of designing, editing, and writing, the Horse Camp curriculum is finally here! So, what’s inside you might ask? Each day is broken up into a single topic with facts, activities, games and crafts. Topics include: parts of a horse, horse care, English and Western riding and much more! It’s geared toward elementary-aged kids, but younger kids can absolutely complete the lessons with help from an adult or older sibling.

This is perfect for Christmas break or even to do in the evenings after school. I’ll be highlighting segments of the book over the next few weeks and posting a few free printables too, so keep checking back. You can find the curriculum in the Shop and a detailed supply list here to start getting organized for the week.

I hope your kids enjoy learning more about horses!
