Mad for Plaid!

Does your horse have specific colors? Do you match your brushes, tack boxes, bridle bags and saddle pads? I know I can’t be the only one out there that sticks to one color scheme for all of my horse’s “stuff”. Dancer’s color has been red for a while. I know what you’re thinking… you chose red for a sorrel? And you call yourself an artist? While red may not fall under the “suggested colors” list for sorrel on those nifty little charts at the tack shops, I have received many compliments on my crazy color choice throughout the years. I tested it on him when he was a colt and it just stuck! And red happens to be my favorite color too!

I’ve always loved the Baker products, but wished they came in other color combos. It wasn’t until Kensington released their plaid collection that I started to go a little plaid crazy! First came the helmet bag and the boot bag because my random tote bags that I carried out to the barn just weren’t cutting it. And why not choose something cute that matches, right? Then came the halter and the saddle bag. And now I admit I’ve added the bridle bag and most recently a dressage saddle pad! I’m not striving for the entire collection on purpose, but if you happen to need something and it comes in your color and pattern, why not have it all match?

Kensington carries a variety of plaid colors in most of their products. One of the reasons I kept ordering more wasn’t entirely due to the visual appeal, it was because the products really do stand up to a lot of wear and tear…and a lot of dirt! You can wipe them down with a damp cloth or throw them in the washing machine. They even have a lifetime guarantee on all of their products!

I appreciate the larger size of the helmet bag. I can fit my helmet, gloves, spurs, a granola bar and even a pair of shorts & extra socks for post ride barn chores in the summer. The bridle bag has the plaid mesh on either side to allow the leather to get air, but still shield it from dust and dirt which helps to eliminate mold. The dressage saddle bag is HUGE, but it can fit a few saddle pads and even a small cosmetic bag in the front zipper compartment! And the saddle pad is worth every penny! I prefer this to some of the other basic dressage pads because the CoolWick lining truly is very breathable and keeps my horse a bit cooler than some of the other pads I’ve tried.

You want me to put the bridle on? hahaha!

Guess we know who won that battle!

So if you want to branch out to something a bit more exciting than just the plain colors, but still want to keep the traditional look, I suggest the Kensington plaid! And in case you’re wondering what’s next on my list…Dancer has requested the “3-in-1 Layering SuperMesh System” blanket for Christmas. In red of course!
