Happy New Year, friends! I hope you all enjoyed time with family, friends or just had time to relax and regroup for the new year. We’ve spent the past few weeks enjoying the extra time together as a family and having fun watching our daughter, Hattie, play. We’re slowly getting back into some school activities this week. I asked Hattie what she’d like to learn more about and she said “horses!”. I was thrilled! I immediately started making a list of the extra activities and books I needed to gather up and jotted down some other ideas.

We’re going through the Horse Camp curriculum together, as she’s not reading on her own yet, and I’m modifying anything that seems hard for a pre-schooler. We’ve been able to work through the questions together and the activities are absolutely do-able for her with a bit of help from me.

One of my favorite printables from the curriculum is the “What’s In Your Brush Box?” activity. She really enjoyed this one and I hope your kids will too. You’ll need to print off both pages – the brush box and the brushes, hoof pick, etc… Cut out (or have your kids cut them if they’re able) all of the brushes and accessories and let your kids arrange them however they choose in the brush box. Then, glue it all down!

If you’re feeling a little extra, you can laminate the brush box page and all of the contents and then use wall putty or double-sided tape to let your kids arrange and re-arrange to their heart’s content. We opted for gluing this time and she was able to use the glue stick and put all of them down where she wanted them.

If you’d like to try this activity – and many more – with your kids, download the Horse Camp curriculum by clicking below.
